The Ghana Air Traffic Safety Electronics Association (GhATSEA) has decided to suspend its planned nationwide strike, which was set to commence on Thursday, October 30, 2025.
In a statement issued by its President, Engr. David Annan Mensah, the association indicated that it opted to call off the industrial action following productive discussions with the governing board and management of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) aimed at addressing long-standing grievances regarding inadequate welfare conditions and management inaction.
“After constructive engagement with the GCAA governing board and management, we have chosen to suspend our planned strike action, which was intended to commence on 30th October 2025,” the statement noted.
GhATSEA expressed gratitude to all stakeholders involved in the negotiations and conveyed its optimism that the ongoing discussions will result in a permanent resolution of all outstanding issues.
“We are thankful for the efforts made by all stakeholders during the discussions and remain hopeful that the ongoing engagements will lead to a lasting resolution of all outstanding issues,” the statement further added.
Previously, the association had threatened to initiate an indefinite nationwide strike, citing poor welfare conditions, inequitable job placements, unfair salary administration, and unresolved welfare issues that have persisted for over 15 years.
GhATSEA reassured the public and all aviation stakeholders of its dedication to maintaining safety and professionalism in the provision of air navigation services throughout the country.
“We are committed to upholding the highest standards of safety and professionalism in the delivery of air navigation services across the country,” it stated.
The association also praised the Acting Director-General of the GCAA, Rev. Stephen Wilfred Arthur, and Acting Deputy Director-General (Technical), Mr. Theophilus Aryee Ago, for their commitment and leadership throughout the negotiations.
GhATSEA expressed its gratitude to the media and the public for their patience and understanding during the period of industrial unrest, and reiterated its dedication to maintaining the safe and efficient operation of Ghana’s airspace.
