Scrap dealers in Agbogbloshie Old Fadama, located within the Odododiodio constituency, have expressed their intention to vote against the New Patriotic Party (NPP) due to what they perceive as a failure to develop the land from which they were displaced by the former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey.
The dealers have reported that their livelihoods have been significantly affected by the eviction, as the area has since been transformed into a dumping ground.
In an interview, Ussif Mahama, the Chairman of the Scrap Dealers Association at Agbogbloshie Old Fadama, indicated that they have made a collective decision to support the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the forthcoming elections.
“The demolition of our scrap yard has caused us considerable harm, and we are dissatisfied with the actions taken against us. It is disheartening to witness the area being used for waste disposal.
“It is truly distressing to displace scrap dealers only to convert the land into a dumping site, which is unacceptable. We sincerely hope that the NDC will regain power so that we can return to our work.”
