Nine individuals associated with the purported shooting incident involving former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, have been brought before the Adentan Circuit Court.
Among those charged is the victim’s brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo Akofena, who arrived at the court alongside eight others in a police vehicle, heavily guarded and in handcuffs.
Their court appearance follows their arrest related to an incident where the former MP suffered gunshot wounds during a gathering on Sunday, June 22.
The shooting reportedly took place during the installation ceremony of Kwadwo Safo as the leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission, an event that has since become the focal point of a growing leadership dispute within the religious organization.
Security and investigative reports indicate that a search conducted at a residence and vehicle in Kwabenya resulted in the discovery of numerous rounds of ammunition, including 9mm, .45 caliber, and .40 caliber rounds, along with loaded magazines and two Glock pistols, one of which is reportedly registered to Israel Safo.
The case is believed to stem from rising tensions over the leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission following the death of its founder, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, in September 2025.
While investigations are ongoing, the family of the late founder asserts that Adwoa Safo was designated as the head of the family by her father and was fulfilling responsibilities assigned to her prior to his death.
They further contend that they do not acknowledge any alternative leadership claims made by Israel Safo, arguing that such claims are in direct contradiction to the succession directives allegedly left by the late Apostle Safo.
The accused individuals remain in custody as the court continues with preliminary hearings regarding the case.
