Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says the current economic recovery is thanks to the policies his administration put in place before the 2024 general elections.
He stressed that these key policies, which were meant to stabilize and improve the economy, are now showing good results.
While addressing a gathering of supporters and delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) after the flagbearer elections, which were won by former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Mr. Akufo-Addo stated, “The economic recovery that was initiated before we departed from office is becoming apparent and is being felt. Those essential policies to stabilize and reposition our economy are yielding positive results.”
He further remarked, “This is our message, grounded in achievement, guided by responsibility, expressed by a party united in purpose and driven by a bold vision for the future.
He encouraged those who did not win to support the successful candidate, saying, “To those who did not succeed: stand firm in loyalty. In our tradition, true loyalty is demonstrated not in victory, but in our response to defeat. I am confident that each of you will uphold the proud heritage of the NPP, where, after a contest, we unite and move forward together.
“Eighteen years ago, I selected Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as my running mate. We have stood together through four elections. I am familiar with his intellect, his character, his dedication to Ghana, and his strong work ethic. He is loyal to both the party and the nation.
With the unwavering support of our members and the continued generosity of our supporters, I am confident that he will lead us back to victory.
“I am certain that with Dr. Bawumia, we will present a clear and credible plan to stimulate economic growth, support enterprises, create jobs, protect the vulnerable, and unleash the creativity of our youth. The NPP has accomplished this before. Under Dr. Bawumia, we will achieve it again and do it even better.
