A delegation from Abbott, headed by its Divisional Vice President for EMEA & Global Accounts, has made a courtesy visit to Ghana’s Health Minister, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, to discuss advancements in diagnostic technology and broadened partnerships.
The team emphasised Abbott’s recent global acquisition in cancer diagnostics and presented state-of-the-art rapid testing solutions, including Africa’s inaugural multiplex panel that can identify HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis in a single test.
Abbott representatives also highlighted the significance of innovation in Africa’s disease-control initiatives and their ongoing collaborations with Ghana’s health stakeholders.
Health Minister Akandoh received the delegation warmly and emphasised Ghana’s commitment to enhancing health sovereignty in light of diminished external funding for essential programs.
He pointed out the government’s initiatives to bridge financing gaps, enhance treatment coverage, and promote mother-to-child transmission prevention, while advocating for robust partnerships that ensure value for money.
The Minister urged Abbott to sustain an active role in Ghana’s health sector and work closely with national institutions.
He underscored the necessity of innovation, equity, and global collaboration in tackling diseases that impact all populations.
