Black Queens coach Kim Lars Björkegren has expressed his anticipation for a challenging match against the Lionesses of England on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.
Ghana will be welcomed by the European champions at St. Mary’s, with the match set to commence at 19:00 GMT.
In a statement to the Ghana FA website prior to the match, Björkegren acknowledged the difficulty of facing the home team but emphasised that his squad possesses the necessary attributes to compete against the Lionesses.
“We’re diving into deep waters to test our abilities against the best team in the world. It’s going to be quite challenging, and we must recognise that. However, we are also aware of our strengths,” he remarked.
“While we may not yet rank among the top five in the world, it is essential for us to push our limits. He characterised the upcoming match as a crucial indicator of the team’s development.
“Matches like this are arguably the most challenging globally at this moment. Playing away against England will undoubtedly test us.
“We will assess our capabilities, as well as identify areas for improvement to enhance our position in the FIFA rankings and maintain our status as one of the leading teams in Africa,” he added.
In preparation for the match, the Black Queens secured a victory over Aston Villa’s Women’s team.
This forthcoming friendly match is part of the Queens’ preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
