The Ministry of Education has announced the delivery of more than 3,000 mono desks to Labone Senior High School in Accra on Monday, November 24, in response to a reported shortage that compelled newly enrolled Form One students to either sit on the floor or utilize dining hall benches as temporary classroom furniture.
In a statement released on Monday, November 24, the Ministry indicated that Labone SHS had formally requested 3,282 mono desks through the Ghana Education Service (GES). According to the Ministry, the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has approved and allocated the entire quantity, with delivery expected to be finalized by the end of Monday, November 24, 2025.
This initiative is part of the Ministry’s nationwide program to acquire 200,000 mono desks for 100 senior high schools transitioning from the double-track to the single-track system. The goal of this initiative is to systematically and sustainably address furniture shortages across all second-cycle institutions.
The Ministry reaffirmed the government’s dedication to ensuring that every student learns in a safe, supportive, and conducive environment. It is committed to ongoing collaboration with GES, GETFund, and other partners to provide the necessary infrastructure to enhance teaching and learning throughout the country.
