President John Dramani Mahama has disclosed that Ghana’s new Solar for Industries Project will act as a crucial catalyst for the nation’s 24-hour economy initiative and will expedite industrial development.
During the sod-cutting ceremony for the Multi-purpose Solar Energy Project at the Dawa Industrial Park in Agotor on Thursday, November 6, the President emphasized that the facility will deliver clean, reliable, and cost-effective electricity for manufacturing and export zones throughout the country.
He elaborated that this initiative is part of the government’s comprehensive strategy to enhance access to renewable energy and foster sustainable industrialization in accordance with the National Renewable Energy Master Plan. He indicated that the project is expected to help Ghana achieve a minimum of a 15% share of renewable energy in the national energy mix.
“The Solar Industry Project, powered by PAC Solar, in collaboration with Quam Investment, the International Finance Corporation, and with technical support from the EPC contractors, who are Chinese, signifies a major transition towards renewable industrial energy,” President Mahama remarked.
He stated that the facility will ensure a dedicated power supply to Ghana’s manufacturing and export zones, which is an essential element in maintaining the government’s 24-hour economy policy and industrial recovery program.
“This facility will generate clean, stable, and affordable electricity specifically for Ghana’s manufacturing and export zones, and this is fundamental to our 24-hour economy and our industrial recovery program,” he asserted.
