Aggrieved Newly Posted Teachers have given the government a one-week ultimatum to address unpaid salaries.
Their initial deadline was September 23, but they have now extended it by one week.
The group, comprising graduates recently posted from Colleges of Education and universities, reports that its members have not received payment for 12 months and 8 months, respectively.
Despite submitting a petition to the Ministry of Education and other relevant authorities on September 8, they claim that no substantial response has been forthcoming.
In an interview, the Lead Convener of the group, Simon Kofi Nartey, cautioned that members would organize a protest on September 30 if the situation does not improve.
“It is quite unfortunate that, as we speak, no action has been taken regarding the issues we presented at our press conference. We have no choice but to take to the streets to inform Ghanaians about what is occurring. We have already coordinated with the Greater Accra Regional Police Command and have agreed on September 30 for the demonstration,” he stated.
