The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has issued a clear warning that the recent surge in arrests concerning alleged corruption and embezzlement marks merely the initial phase of a larger initiative aimed at holding former government officials accountable.
While addressing a gathering of chiefs and community members in the Atewa East Constituency during the second phase of his Thank You Tour in the Eastern Region on Thursday, September 25, he revealed that numerous former government appointees are expected to face arrest due to their suspected involvement in the misuse and misappropriation of public funds.
“Regarding the arrests, we have only just begun — we have not made significant progress yet,” he remarked. “Anyone who has exploited the nation’s resources or misappropriated state funds must be held responsible.”
Mr. Nketiah also urged traditional leaders, religious figures, and Muslim authorities to lend their support to the government’s renewed campaign against corruption and to help restore public confidence in national leadership.
“We appeal to traditional leaders, imams, and clergy to assist us, as we believe our efforts will contribute to healing Ghana and restoring what Dr. Bawumia himself acknowledges has been damaged, ensuring that Ghana remains resilient,” he stated.
