The Deputy Director of Legal Affairs for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Loh, has asserted that the party is ready to vigorously challenge the outcomes of three parliamentary results announced by the Electoral Commission (EC) at the National Police Training School (NPTS) in Tesano.
On Thursday, December 12, the Electoral Commission declared the parliamentary results for the Akwatia, Fanteakwa North, and Suhum constituencies in favor of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following a recollation process conducted at the NPTS.
The NDC, however, has raised significant concerns regarding the legality of both the process and the venue for these announcements, contending that they violate established procedures and regulations.
George Loh pointed out that the NDC believes the Greater Accra Regional EC office exceeded its authority by making these declarations, which, in his view, should have been managed within the respective regions of the constituencies involved.
He further stressed that the party deems the declarations to be unlawful and has resolved to contest them through the appropriate legal avenues.
“The argument we are presenting is that we were summoned by the EC to the National Police Training School, and we attended and waited. We believe that even if the process is completed, it cannot be removed from the respective regions, as this is not in accordance with the law.
“An illegality remains an illegality, and for this reason, we will pursue legal action. All declarations made at the Police Training School are unlawful, and we will continue to fight this matter in court.”
