Table of Men, a Christian advocacy organization dedicated to promoting gospel musicians, has stated that their support services come with specific conditions.
The President, Kwasi Ernest, emphasized that gospel musicians seeking assistance must formally notify the group beforehand. His remarks were made in light of criticisms regarding the group’s lack of support for gospel artists in recent years, contrasting with their previous backing of artists such as Diana Hamilton and Piesie Esther during the Telecel Ghana Music Awards’ Artiste of the Year category.
Critics have pointed out that Table of Men did not advocate for Nacee when he received a nomination for Artiste of the Year in the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards. Additionally, concerns have been raised about the group’s silence concerning the nominations of Team Eternity Ghana and Joe Mettle in the 2025 Artiste of the Year category.
In a recent interview with Andy Dosty, Kwasi Ernest clarified that the group does not engage in any project or campaign solely based on the involvement of a gospel artist. He stated, ‘The Table of Men cannot simply take to the streets, radio stations, and platforms to campaign for an individual who has received an Artiste of the Year nomination just because they are a gospel artist.’
He further explained, ‘If the nominee and their management recognize the influential leaders within the Table of Men and wish to collaborate with us to devise a campaign strategy and support their initiative, we are open to it. We are a family — we will assist. However, the Table of Men will not take action while the nominee remains comfortably at rest. It does not operate that way.
We cannot proceed under such circumstances.’ Additionally, he addressed rumours regarding the group’s dissolution, stating that it is merely on a hiatus and will return with renewed strength.
