Christopher Arthur and Cynthia Morrison, the Parliamentary candidates for Agona West from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), are calling on the police to carry out a thorough investigation to apprehend the individual who discharged a firearm during a confrontation in the constituency on October 27th.
Gunfire erupted at a mini-rally in Agona Swedru, resulting in one person getting shot and several others sustaining minor injuries as a result of the incident.
Supporters of Chris Arthur were on their way back to Agona Swedru from a campaign event in Otinkorang, a neighboring community within Agona West, when they came across supporters of Cynthia Morrison holding a small rally, as reported.
In response, a representative from Arthur’s team directly appealed for police intervention, claiming that the altercation was incited by an unnamed individual referred to as “Adolf.”
They hoped for a quick investigation that would result in the shooter’s arrest and also deter any future violence amidst increasing tensions leading up to the elections.
The Central Regional Police Command has initiated an inquiry into the incident in order to guarantee justice and restore peace among residents and party supporters in the area.
We are appealing to the police to understand that while we may not know who fired the gunshot, we are confident in our identification of the individual responsible for throwing the alcoholic drink at the driver. We anticipate the police will respond based on the information provided in the report.
We have faith in the police’s investigative abilities and anticipate a comprehensive examination of the situation to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice. We are confident that once this is accomplished, peace will prevail.
There will be tranquillity and harmony. We will continue to enjoy the peace in Agona West. Adolf, one of Cynthia Morrison’s bodyguards, threw an alcoholic drink onto the driver of the bus or van belonging to Christopher Arthur’s campaign tour.
Cynthia Morrison’s representative requested investigations to arrest those responsible.
The MP has been extremely concerned since the incident occurred. She is a female. She cares deeply for the people she represents. She believes this is not the correct path to follow. She has been feeling extremely anxious, and therefore we are urging the police to step in and handle the investigation.
We are urging the authorities to hold the offenders accountable and ensure justice is served. We desire for the truth to be uncovered in order for everyone to be able to continue with their campaigns without disruption. She will continue with her campaign despite this setback. She will advance and check in with each electoral area.
