The parliamentary minority has called for the immediate suspension of Sammy Gyamfi, the Acting CEO of Ghana GOLDBOD, due to allegations of him distributing US dollars to evangelist Patricia Oduro Koranteng, commonly known as Nana Agradaa.
A viral video showed Gyamfi handing an undisclosed amount of US dollars to the former fetish priestess. Despite his subsequent apology, he has been summoned by the Chief of Staff in light of public outcry.
During a press conference on May 12, 2025, Dr. Kabiru Tia Mahama, the Member of Parliament for Walewale and a member of the Finance Committee, urged the President to act decisively against Gyamfi.
He stated, ‘The minority demands the immediate suspension of Sammy Gyamfi as acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board.
This action violates the Code of Conduct, the Forex Exchange Act, and the Currency Act. Although the Chief Justice has indicated that ignorance of the law is no excuse, Gyamfi, being a reputable lawyer, is fully aware of the legal implications of his actions and must be held accountable.’
Furthermore, the minority has requested a comprehensive investigation into the origins of the dollar bills shown in the viral video. The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has also summoned Gyamfi regarding the matter.
