Members of Parliament are scheduled to reconvene today, Tuesday, October 21, 2025, for the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament.
This meeting, which signifies the last parliamentary session of the year, is anticipated to include the presentation of the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy by the Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, in mid-November.
During this session, two newly elected NDC legislators — Bernard Bediako Baidoo, the Member of Parliament-elect for Akwatia, and Professor Alidu Seidu, the MP-elect for Tamale Central — will take their oaths of office.
Additionally, the Appointments Committee of Parliament is expected to review and consider Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie’s nomination for the role of Chief Justice.
In a renewed initiative to combat illegal mining, the government is anticipated to present a legislative instrument (L.I.) to the House aimed at revoking L.I. 2462, which currently grants the President the authority to permit mining in forest reserves.
Lawmakers will also discuss significant national matters, including bills, motions, and policy statements from various government ministries and agencies.
