The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has formally identified former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta as a suspect in four prominent corruption investigations, which encompass matters related to the National Cathedral project, Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML), among others.
During a press briefing held on Wednesday, February 12, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng announced that Ofori-Atta is now considered a wanted individual and is required to return to Ghana without delay to participate in questioning.
He cautioned that noncompliance would lead to measures being implemented to ensure his return.
Addressing assertions that Ofori-Atta had departed the country for medical reasons, Agyebeng emphasized the necessity for the former minister to engage with the ongoing investigations.
He also denied claims that OSP officials had conducted a raid on Ofori-Atta’s residence on Tuesday, February 11.
Instead, Agyebeng accused the former minister of orchestrating the raid to mislead the public and undermine the integrity of the OSP’s investigations.
This latest action by the OSP represents a crucial advancement in the campaign against corruption, as the office amplifies its efforts to hold public officials accountable for alleged financial improprieties.
