The General Secretary of the Public Services Workers’ Union (PSWU), Bernard Adjei, has confirmed that employees of the National Identification Authority (NIA) will adhere to the directive issued by the National Labour Commission (NLC) to halt their current strike.
The NIA employees initiated their industrial action on Wednesday, May 13, due to delays in the execution of migration reports related to their service conditions.
In an interview, Mr. Adjei stated that the union has accepted the directive in good faith and announced that NIA employees are expected to return to work on Friday, May 15.
This directive was issued following a hearing on Thursday, May 14, which included representatives from the union, the National Identification Authority, and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC).
Mr. Adjei conveyed his hope that all parties involved, particularly the Ministry of Finance and the FWSC, would fulfill their commitments to restore industrial peace.
“As a responsible union, we have embraced the directive in good faith; we consider it just. We are confident that with this directive, all parties will meet their obligations so that we can resolve the issue,” he remarked.
“The NLC’s directive is in effect. We will take all necessary actions to ensure that NIA employees return to the office on [Friday, May 15],” he further stated.
Additionally, the National Labour Commission has instructed the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission to expedite the approval and implementation of the migration report for NIA employees by the conclusion of May 2026.
