Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has officially inaugurated a new board for the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC).
The inauguration took place on Friday, March 28, 2025, with Professor Thomas Akabzaa serving as the chairperson.
The board comprises several members, including Nana Yaa Jantuah, Professor Ebenezer Bugri Anarfio, Bridgeworche Barichisu, Dr. Edna Agyepong, Dr. Kwabena Nuarko Otoo representing the Trades Union Congress, Dr. Humphrey Ayim Darke representing the Association of Ghana Industries, and Dr. Shafic Suleman, who will act as Secretary.
This eight-member board is responsible for the oversight and regulation of public utilities within the nation.
In his address to the newly appointed board, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah emphasized the importance of transparency in the regulation of public utilities, urging the members to adhere to these principles as they embark on their duties.
“On behalf of the president, I would like to express our gratitude for your willingness to dedicate your efforts to this cause. As you are all aware, this government is eager to make progress, but we must ensure that our actions are carried out with precision. We were elected to serve the interests of the people, and it is essential that we keep this in mind.
“His Excellency is committed to ensuring that the energy sector and all other security services perform at the highest level. Therefore, we encourage you to focus diligently and give your utmost effort, so that the government can be held in high regard and the citizens can be satisfied,” he remarked.
