President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his administration’s dedication to enhancing healthcare services for military personnel and their families, emphasizing the completion and equipping of the Kumasi Military Hospital situated at Afari within the Central Command.
During the graduation ceremony for officer cadets at the Ghana Military Academy on Friday, April 11, the President highlighted that the well-being of the armed forces is a primary concern for his government.
“Your health, both for soldiers and civilian staff, is a significant priority. We have a comprehensive plan to upgrade your medical facilities. Consequently, we will finalize and furnish the Kumasi Military Hospital at Afari in the Central Command. Additionally, we have allocated funds for a military field hospital in Tamale. Our goal is to ensure that you and your families have access to high-quality healthcare,” President Mahama stated.
The President also presented a wider strategy aimed at bolstering support systems for both active duty members and veterans, indicating that the government is already implementing measures to improve working conditions and ensure equitable compensation.
“Esteemed military personnel and civilian staff, I am committed to systematically enhancing your service conditions. GEHOC will play a crucial role in providing sustainable funding for the Ghana Armed Forces. Your contributions deserve acknowledgment. For our retired personnel, who have given so much for our country, we will guarantee that your retirement benefits are disbursed promptly,” he added.
His statements were met with applause from the audience, which included senior military officials, government representatives, and the families of the graduating cadets.
President Mahama’s commitment is part of a larger initiative to modernize the Ghana Armed Forces and ensure that military personnel receive the care and recognition they rightfully deserve for their service to the nation.
