On Thursday, July 16, 2026, President John Dramani Mahama commenced a two-day tour of the Volta Region, titled “Resetting Ghana,” during which he is expected to launch significant infrastructure initiatives, review ongoing projects, and engage with residents on government policies.
The tour will begin in Juapong, where the President is set to cut the sod for the establishment of 18 out of the planned 24-hour Economy Model Markets, with one market designated for each district within the region. This initiative is part of the government’s strategy to enhance local commerce, improve market infrastructure, and stimulate economic activity.
Throughout his visit, President Mahama will also tour the Peki College of Education and the University of Health and Allied Sciences located in Sokode. He is expected to inspect the ongoing construction of the Asikuma-Ho road, which is being developed under the government’s Big Push Programme, and inaugurate the new District Police Headquarters for the Akatsi North District.
Accompanied by Ministers of State, heads of public institutions, and Members of Parliament, the President will host an educational durbar focused on the government’s Free Primary Health Care programme, aiming to engage residents on the policy and its execution.
On Friday, President Mahama will conduct a town hall meeting at the Ho Technical University, where he is expected to interact directly with chiefs and residents of the Volta Region.
This meeting aims to provide the government with feedback on essential policy interventions and ongoing development projects in the region, while also discussing local priorities with community leaders and citizens.
Additionally, the President is scheduled to visit the Ho Sports Stadium to evaluate its current condition as part of the tour.
