“For the past three years, we release that the lake is growing weeds so we called on the authority and they brought machines to clear them Off. But as we speak now the machines on the lake are not working and the weeds has covered the lake. First it was a private company who was in responsible for doing that but the government brought in deferent company” Mustapha said
He stated that after the break down of the machine they pay people to clear the weed using their strength ( Man Power ).

“Every month we pay people to clear the weed but it still grow so they have stopped since they were using their Man Power. We the fishermen came together and created a narrow road that lead us to the Dam.”
He also stated that its very difficult to get local fishes to buy due to this challenge so most of the fishes you see people buying are from the Fish Ponds.
“It’s very difficult to get local fishes to come and sell because you have to go deep close to the Dam and this challenge has cause buyers to go for fish pond, so most of the fishes you see are fish pond and this is discouraging most fishermen”

“We are pleading to the Government and the Volta River Authority to help us, the challenges here makes lively hood very uncomfortable.” He added
