A student from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, associated with Unity Hall (Conti), has been admitted to the hospital after sustaining multiple stab wounds during a confrontation at a ‘Thank You’ tour event organized by the New Patriotic Party in the Ashanti Region.
The incident took place on Tuesday at the Bantama Pentecost Church, the venue for the event. The victim was a member of the Jama Group from Unity Hall, which had been engaged by former Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, to enhance the event’s atmosphere.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that a wealthy associate of Kennedy Agyapong, who was present at the event, distributed money to the Jama group.
However, a group of muscular men, reportedly affiliated with the NPP and armed with firearms, suddenly appeared and seized the money.
This sparked a confrontation between the Jama group and the armed men, during which gunfire erupted. One member of the Jama group was stabbed amid the chaos.
He was promptly transported to the emergency department of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical care.
Kennedy Agyapong and his associates have filed an official report with the Kumasi Central Police Command, but no arrests have been made as of yet.
