Nana Otu Darko, host of the show Edi ka, a political segment of Light TV mid morning show Oman yi Dakye , has echoed his consent on the LGBTQI bill which led him saying ‘’ I love homosexuals but hate homosexuality ‘’ .
He said, one may be confused due to the statement made by this renowned journalist. Well, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex ( LGBTQI ) persons face specific obstacles when it comes to accessing their basic rights, including their right to social protection. These persons are not socially protected due to the fact that many people think that they are an abomination to society for their choice of partners. We can testify to the fact that many of us some way or the other have friends or even siblings who are part of this association but we still love and protect them.
Loving homosexuals and hating homosexuality as said by Nana Otu Darko are two different things all together. That is, we are despised by their act but not the people, we should learn to accept this fact and also learn to accept them for who they are. We should not murder these people due to sexuality difference but we should also not embrace or accept the act of homosexuality.
Not all minds think the same so even if you hate homosexuals and homosexuality in a whole, just respect the fact that these people are human and also have basic human rights which includes right to live and social protection which must be observed.
