The government has announced ongoing advancements in its negotiations for debt restructuring with external creditors, reaffirming its commitment to conducting fair and transparent discussions by the G20 Common Framework.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance on Thursday, May 29, 2025, officials underscored that no creditor has received preferential treatment, adhering to the principle of Comparability of Treatment.
“By Ghana’s obligations to the official creditors, as outlined in the G20 Common Framework, no creditor has been afforded preferential treatment,” the statement remarked.
“This aligns with the principle of Comparability of Treatment.”
The Ministry further affirmed that the government has diligently adhered to the stipulations of its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with official creditors and has maintained arrears with all external creditors encompassed within the debt restructuring framework.
Expressing appreciation to its international partners, the government emphasized its objective to achieve an agreement that equitably addresses the interests of all stakeholders.
“The Government remains dedicated to securing a fair and mutually advantageous resolution with all creditors, and expresses gratitude to its partners for their patience, collaboration, and support,” the statement concluded.
