Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former head of the National Signals Bureau, continues to be held in custody despite having fulfilled the court’s directive for a seven-working-day remand.
The ex-security chief is facing trial on multiple charges, including theft, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state, having been initially remanded on Friday, May 2, due to allegations of witness tampering.
On Tuesday, May 13, his attorney, Samuel Atta Akyea, informed the court that Adu-Boahene had been rearrested on a different matter after the initial remand period expired.
While specific details regarding the new arrest were not disclosed, the Attorney General previously indicated that Adu-Boahene is under investigation related to an internet connectivity issue at Ghana Water Limited.
Concerning the ongoing case involving the alleged misappropriation of GH¢49.1 million, the judge has postponed proceedings until May 26 for a case management conference.
The prosecution has submitted all witness statements and is required to provide them to the defense by May 20 at the latest.
