Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen’s Movement for Change has officially undergone a rebranding to become the United Party (UP Plus), marking a new beginning and honoring a name of historical importance in Ghanaian politics.
During the official launch of UP Plus, party Chairman Abubakar Saddique Boniface remarked that the new identity signifies a renewed dedication to effective governance and transformational leadership.
“Today, we introduce to you the United Party, also known as UP Plus. The UP Plus is a political entity designed to facilitate genuine change in governance.
“We will make a significant impact due to our emphasis on universal values and our respect for competent leadership. We are not merely selecting individuals to lead us; we are choosing those who are credible, capable, and possess a clear vision,” he expressed.
Party leader Alan Kyerematen indicated that the rebranding signifies a new era for Ghanaian politics, enhancing accountability, bolstering the fight against corruption, and offering a credible alternative to the winner-takes-all approach.
“This new era will foster economic transformation, leading to substantial job creation, ushering in a prosperous age for business, and generating wealth for our nation, Ghana.
“A new era that will harness the collective strengths and talents of all Ghanaians for national progress, regardless of age, ethnicity, religion, or political beliefs.
“A new era that will advocate for accountable and transparent governance and implement a policy of zero tolerance for corruption. A new era that will at the very least safeguard the environment and encourage sustainable development. Esteemed ladies and gentlemen, this is the foundation of the establishment of the United Party,” he stated.
The party received its registration certificate from the Electoral Commission on October 3, 2025, officially solidifying its new identity.
