Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), has categorically asserted that he has not faced any criminal charges, despite ongoing inquiries into purported financial misconduct during his time in office.
The situation has garnered considerable public attention, leading to rampant speculation regarding Adu-Boahene’s alleged involvement in embezzlement, fraud, and other illicit financial activities.
Nonetheless, he has consistently proclaimed his innocence, highlighting that no official charges have been brought against him.
On Friday, March 28, the Accra High Court modified his bail conditions, reducing the amount from GHS120 million to GHS80 million. His spouse, Angela Adjei Boateng, is also under a GHS80 million bail, which requires two sureties to be validated.
Both individuals must report to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) three times weekly, and their travel is restricted, necessitating prior approval from EOCO.
Adu-Boahene, who held the position of NSB Director-General from 2017 until February 2025, has faced allegations of financial irregularities, including claims of misappropriating millions of Ghanaian cedis into personal accounts.
Despite these accusations, he maintains that he has not been formally charged with any offenses.
“I have not been charged with anything yet, none whatsoever,” Adu-Boahene stated in an interview following the Accra High Court’s decision.
When questioned about his confidence in being exonerated, he replied affirmatively, “Definitely yes.”
