Parliament is scheduled to reconvene at the AICC Grand Arena on December 16

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has announced that the reconvening of Parliament will occur on Monday, December 16, 2024, at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

This decision follows a circular released by the Speaker’s Office on December 11, which officially designated the venue for the much-anticipated parliamentary session.

The announcement is in line with a prior notice from Speaker Bagbin, dated December 2, 2024, which indicated the need for Parliament to reconvene and resume its legislative duties.

The selection of this date and location occurs amidst ongoing political discussions and preparations for the post-election phase.

The decision to reconvene Parliament on December 16, 2024, has generated significant discourse within Ghanaian political circles, particularly regarding the timing and context of the announcement.

Speaker Bagbin had previously received multiple requests from the Majority in Parliament to summon the House before the December 7 general elections.

These requests were made in consideration of the electoral processes and the necessity for legislative actions prior to the elections. However, Speaker Bagbin declined these requests and opted to adhere to the initially scheduled date for reconvening.
