President John Dramani Mahama met with Egypt’s President, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, during the 8th African Union Mid-Year Coordination Summit.
The dialogue emphasized the enduring pan-African partnership forged by Dr Kwame Nkrumah and President Gamal Abdel Nasser. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing development objectives for their respective nations and the broader African continent.
President Mahama expressed Ghana’s profound appreciation to President el-Sisi and Egypt for their unwavering support regarding Ghana’s reparations resolution presented at the United Nations.
“We have agreed to facilitate the streamlined registration of Egyptian pharmaceutical products within Ghana to enhance healthcare delivery and encourage foreign investment,” he communicated via Facebook following the meeting on Monday, October 5.
Recognizing Egypt’s sophisticated defence capabilities, Presidents Mahama and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi committed to reinforcing bilateral cooperation through intelligence exchange, professional development initiatives, counter-terrorism operations, and sustained adherence to the Sahel-Gulf of Guinea Accord.
“As Ghana undertakes the development of a new capital city and expands residential housing initiatives, we anticipate capitalizing on Egypt’s specialized knowledge and lessons derived from the New Administrative Capital.
“I extend my gratitude to President el-Sisi for his gracious reception and reliable collaboration,” he concluded.
