Dismiss ineffective leaders and the harmful duopolistic framework – Alan

Independent presidential candidate and leader of the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen, has urged Ghanaians to reject what he characterizes as ineffective leadership and the “destructive duopolistic system” that he believes has impeded the nation’s advancement.

In an interview during community engagements in the Central Region, Alan criticized the failures of the two major political parties and introduced his Great Transformational Plan (GTP) as a remedy for Ghana’s enduring issues.

“For 16 years each, the NDC and NPP have governed, leading us to the IMF, failing to address youth unemployment, and subjecting us to frequent power outages. Why should Ghanaians continue to place their trust in a system that merely perpetuates failure?” Alan questioned.

“Both Mahama and Bawumia have held leadership positions in our country, yet they have not achieved meaningful transformation. They have surrendered the economy to the IMF and subjected us to unbearable power shortages. They have had their opportunity and have not made a positive difference in the lives of ordinary Ghanaians,” he asserted.

Alan emphasized his Great Transformational Plan (GTP) as a comprehensive approach to addressing the nation’s challenges, focusing on revitalizing the economy, creating jobs, and promoting industrial and agricultural development.

“We will enhance production in the agricultural and industrial sectors to generate employment, boost exports, and decrease imports, thereby stabilizing our exchange rate. This is the only path to achieving sustainable development for Ghana,” he elaborated.

Regarding agriculture, Alan highlighted the untapped potential of the Central Region, especially in cocoa cultivation.

“This remarkable region is not only abundant in minerals but also rich in agricultural resources. Through my New Agriculture Revolution policy, we will make significant investments to enhance the attractiveness and profitability of farming,” he stated.

Alan also tackled the urgent issue of illegal mining, or galamsey, promising to provide alternatives for the youth.

I will revoke the mining licenses currently held by political appointees and allocate them to the youth, enabling them to engage in responsible mining practices. It is unacceptable for a small number of avaricious individuals to jeopardize our land and water resources, he asserted with conviction.

He further elaborated on his dedication to constitutional reforms aimed at decentralizing authority, establishing a second chamber of Parliament to succeed the Council of State, and empowering traditional leaders to play a significant role in governance.

“Our chiefs must serve as co-trustees of our lands and resources. My administration will ensure that they are integral to our development strategy,” Alan stated.

Regarding his vision for the fishing sector, Alan reaffirmed his commitment to rejuvenating the industry by enabling Ghanaians to own trawlers through the establishment of a Ghana National Association of Fishers. He stressed that it should not be the case that only foreign entities reap the benefits of the nation’s marine resources. Investments in cold storage facilities, fish processing plants, locally manufactured fishing nets, fiberglass canoes, and outboard motor assembly will lower costs, improve accessibility, and generate wealth for local fishermen.

Drawing from the success of his automotive policy, Alan expressed confidence that these initiatives would revolutionize the fishing industry and stimulate economic activity along the coastline.

He also reiterated his ambition to establish the Central Region as the Tourism Hub of West Africa, capitalizing on its rich heritage, culture, and natural beauty. With targeted investments, he noted, the region could draw international tourists, thereby creating jobs and fostering economic growth for local communities.

“This election transcends mere governmental change; it is about rejecting the detrimental duopoly that has hindered our progress for years. With the GTP, we can cultivate a prosperous, united, and self-sufficient Ghana. Together, we can seize control of our future and forge a better tomorrow for everyone,” he proclaimed.
