The Ghana Police Service has commenced an inquiry into a reported assault on the convoy of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, which took place in Techiman, located in the Bono East Region.
According to reports, the incident occurred while the Asantehene was returning from a funeral in Nkoranza. Initial accounts indicate that a group of individuals, allegedly local youths from Techiman, hurled stones at the buses within the convoy.
In their statement, the police reaffirmed their dedication to uncovering the truth behind the incident. They mentioned that they are collaborating with the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi and other significant stakeholders in Techiman to facilitate the investigation.
This incident has garnered attention due to the esteemed position of the Asantehene and the historical importance of maintaining peaceful relations among communities. The police have called for calm as they seek to clarify the events surrounding the alleged attack.
