The Development Queen mother of Santa Maria, Naa Shika in the Ga Central Municipality of the Greater Accra Region has appealed to the Government and benevolent to establish a vocational training center in the town.
Naa Shika who made the appeal in an interview with Vision1 News noted that the acquisition of employable skills especially by the youth would help check the high incidence of teenage pregnancy and immoral acts.
She announced that she had organized more than 70 women to benefit from skill training under the auspices of Queenship Developmental Initiative.
She appealed to the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection to offer the group with credit facilities to enable them increase productivity.
Naa Shika, also a Trade Unionist appealed to the government to help address the poor drainage system in the area to help stop the perennial flooding in some parts of Santa Maria areas.
The Development Queen mother said many properties have been lost as a result of the perennial flooding of the areas during the rainy seasons.
Naa Shika also asked the good people of Santa Maria to ensure a clean environment to help prevent the outbreak of communicable diseases.
