Residents of Nungua, has called on authorities of Krowor Municipal Assembly (Kroma), the Ministry of Works and Housing and other stakeholders to pull down a Four-storey building under construction at Grace Chopbar near C5 bus stop.
The four-storey building has become a major cause of concern for residents in the area, fear it could collapse or occupants of the story building could be ‘’peeping’’ on others who are living in houses that shares wall anytime they are in their bath house because the later is a compound house.
According to the residents, the uncompleted structure is a disaster-in-waiting.
The krowor Municipal Assembly according to our sources has told the owner of the 4-story building to hold-on with the construction as residents has raised concerns that the owner of the building does not have the structural engineering permit to put up the building.
Speaking to www.vision1fm.com on Thursday, 18th March 2021, a resident (name withheld) noted that initially, when he saw the building, he assumed that the owner had done the necessary ground works needed for such structures.
He said: “The building was so close to their house so much that the municipal assembly workers or the municipal would not mention what is going on after they initially came to sized tools contractors were working with.
‘’So, I took it for granted that they would have seen this might not pose any hazard to anybody – they’re structural engineers and they’re permitting people, therefore, it is legitimate.”
The resident indicated that if care is not taking this will create ‘’clashes or fight’’ between the residents and the owner of the 4-story whose name was given as Ras Kobby, as the latter is trying to use a premise of the formers as a gateway to his building.
“When I checked with the Municipal Assembly, I was told that the building didn’t have any permit; no architectural permit, no engineering or building permit at all. For such a building, you need an architectural and a structural engineering permit because you’re talking about several floors and, so, they need to make sure that the soil on which the building is standing can support such a structure.”
Information also has it that, the owner of the story Ras kobby allegedly ‘’bribed’’ a CID investigator to supervise the illegal construction of the building.
Meanwhile, the residents of Grace Chopbar near C5 bus stop are pleading with Kroma and other relevant stakeholders to intervene to avoid any unforeseen clashes as tempers has gone high. Henry (Akora) Kofi Darko. LTVN.
