Ghana currently manages approximately 40% of Burkina Faso’s petroleum transit, representing a significant increase from 15% recorded two years prior, thereby demonstrating the nation’s expanding significance in delivering fuel supplies to its landlocked neighboring country.
Energy and Green Transition Minister John Jinapor revealed this information through a Facebook post subsequent to engaging with representatives from Burkina Faso’s state-owned hydrocarbon enterprise, Société Nationale Burkinabè d’Hydrocarbures (SONABHY).
The delegation was headed by the organization’s recently appointed Chief Executive Officer, Forogo Patrice, who made a formal courtesy visit to the Minister.

Nevertheless, the magnitude of economic advantages will be contingent upon transit capacity, revenue derived from associated services and the adequacy of the nation’s logistics infrastructure to accommodate the elevated throughput.
Mr Jinapor indicated that the meeting examined strategies to enhance cooperation in petroleum transportation and distribution, as both nations endeavor to intensify regional energy cooperation.
This interaction constitutes a component of comprehensive initiatives aimed at reinforcing energy partnerships between Ghana and neighboring states.
