The President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa, is anticipated to arrive in Ghana on Wednesday, April 1, for a three-day state visit aimed at enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations.
A statement released by the Government of Ghana on Tuesday, March 31, revealed that President Mnangagwa will land at the Kotoka International Airport at 3:00 p.m., where he will be welcomed by President John Dramani Mahama with full military honours.
The welcoming ceremony will feature an inspection of a guard of honour provided by the Ghana Armed Forces, along with a 21-gun salute.
Later that evening, President Mahama will host a state banquet in honour of his Zimbabwean counterpart, highlighting the enduring ties of friendship and cooperation between Accra and Harare.
A key aspect of the visit will be high-level bilateral discussions scheduled to occur at the Peduase Lodge. These discussions will be preceded by a private tête-à-tête between the two leaders, after which they will guide their respective delegations in broader engagements aimed at enhancing collaboration across vital sectors.
As stated, the discussions will investigate opportunities in trade, tourism, agriculture, health, sanitation, anti-corruption initiatives, and strategies to tackle unemployment in both nations.
The engagements are expected to conclude with the signing and exchange of several Memoranda of Understanding covering areas of mutual interest.
As part of his agenda, President Mnangagwa will tour the Sweden Ghana Medical Centre and the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant, where he will receive briefings on Ghana’s progress in healthcare delivery and waste management technologies.
He will also pay a visit to the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park to lay a wreath at the tomb of Ghana’s founding president, Kwame Nkrumah.
President Mnangagwa is scheduled to depart Ghana on Friday, April 3, with full departure honours at the Jubilee Lounge, marking the conclusion of the state visit.
