The family of the late 29-year-old Charles Amissah, who passed away after reportedly being denied emergency care by three prominent hospitals in Accra, is set to lay him to rest on Friday, February 27.
Mr. Amissah, an engineer employed by Promasidor Ghana Limited, was allegedly stabilised by emergency responders following a hit-and-run incident at the Circle Overpass in Accra on February 6, 2026, before being transferred to hospitals where he was purportedly refused admission.
Nevertheless, the reported delays and multiple rejections from hospitals are believed to have played a role in his demise. He subsequently experienced cardiac arrest at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and was declared dead by a physician.
As stated by Dr. Matilda Amissah, the sister of the deceased, arrangements are currently underway to ensure a dignified ceremony at the Methodist Church in Accra.
In the meantime, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has suspended two doctors and two nurses due to their alleged negligence in providing emergency care to a hit-and-run victim.
The management has announced that an internal committee has been formed to investigate the situation and ascertain the facts regarding the actions of the medical personnel involved.
