The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that it continues to prioritize the protection of the welfare and dignity of all Ghanaians.
On Monday, February 2, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, arrived in Latvia for a two-day official visit.
He was joined by a six-member delegation that included senior directors from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a forensic expert, and a pathologist.
The primary objective of the visit is to advocate for justice for the late Nana Agyei Ahyia, a Ghanaian student enrolled at Riga Technical University.
On February 2, 2026, the Honourable Minister conducted a meeting with his Latvian counterpart, Her Excellency Baiba Braže, who assured him of the full support of the Government of Latvia in the quest for truth and justice for the deceased.
The Honourable Minister and his delegation are anticipated to engage with other Latvian officials, including those from the Ministries of the Interior, Education and Science, as well as investigators assigned to the case.
