President John Dramani Mahama has warned government appointees against becoming complacent, reminding them that authority is not everlasting and must be wielded with humility, empathy, and a profound sense of responsibility towards the populace.
He conveyed this message during his First Anniversary Non-Denominational Thanksgiving Service held at the forecourt of the Jubilee House on Wednesday, January 7.
The President stated that Thanksgiving should extend beyond mere expressions of gratitude and evolve into a renewed dedication to ethical governance, national unity, and service to those in need.
He pointed out that the upcoming year would challenge the resolve, patience, and discipline of leaders, while also providing opportunities to enhance reforms and expedite national development.
He emphasized that leadership is a temporary trust, urging appointees to recommit to selfless service for the collective benefit of the people of Ghana.
“Let us advance with humility, let us lead with empathy, and let us govern with courage. My brothers and sisters, the coming year will require even more from us. It will test our resolve, patience, and discipline.
It will also present us with opportunities. Opportunities to deepen the reforms we have initiated, to accelerate our growth, and to ensure that development and progress reach every corner of our nation. Let us always remember that leadership is stewardship. It is transient and fleeting. Authority is a temporary trust held on behalf of the people,” he remarked.
