Six individuals, including a three-month-old infant, have been confirmed deceased following a fire outbreak at Abuakwa Manhyia in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The fire, which engulfed an apartment, occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2025.
The cause of the incident has yet to be determined.
As reported by the Assembly Member for Abuakwa Manhyia, Evans Opoku, the incident was brought to his attention shortly after power was restored to certain areas of the Ashanti Region following a temporary outage on Sunday evening.
Firefighters from the Nkawie and Twedie Fire stations were dispatched to the location to control the blaze.
Unfortunately, the victims were reportedly trapped inside the apartment during the fire, leading to their fatalities.
The police have since identified the charred remains and are making arrangements to transport them to the morgue as investigations into the incident proceed.
