A delegation from the state of Palestine, headed by Dr. Varsen O.V. Aghabekian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine, has made a courtesy visit to the first deputy Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Bernard Ahiafor.
Dr. Varsen indicated that the meeting on Tuesday, December 16, was intended to enhance bilateral relations with Ghana, emphasizing the necessity to liberate and legitimize the state of Palestine.
She stressed that Palestine has faced numerous challenges over the years in its quest for independence and advocated for the sovereignty of Palestine. She expressed her gratitude to Ghana’s President for his remarks regarding the conflict in Palestine.
She asserted that peace can only be attained through justice.
In response, Mr. Ahiafor expressed that Parliament is honored to host the Palestinian delegation. He affirmed that Ghana will persist in fortifying the cordial relations between the two nations and underscored the historical friendship, solidarity, and mutual respect that has existed since the time of Kwame Nkrumah.
Mr. Ahiafor also mentioned the 40 metric tons of cocoa products donated by President Mahama to assist the people of Palestine during the ongoing Gaza crisis, providing relief to communities in distress.
He noted the robust collaboration between the two countries in areas such as Trade, Investment, and economic exchange. Furthermore, he highlighted the significant potential in sectors like Agriculture, Agribusiness, construction, Manufacturing, and services. Mr. Ahiafor emphasized the crucial role of the respective Parliaments in fostering these relationships.
