The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has reaffirmed its steadfast support for the beleaguered Member of Parliament for the Kpandai Constituency, Matthew Nyindam, as he faces the legal challenge regarding his annulled election.
During a press conference held in Accra on Tuesday, December 9, National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye articulated the party’s unwavering backing for Nyindam.
“The NPP stands as a united front behind the MP for Kpandai, Matthew Nyindam. His struggle is our struggle, his cause is our cause, and his journey will be the journey of every NPP member.
“Do not despair. The NPP has not forsaken you. We have not retreated. We are entirely and resolutely with you. We will accompany you through every step of this legal process. We will advocate in every court, at every moment, with a strategic plan,” he stressed.
In the meantime, Nyindam has maintained a composed and hopeful perspective despite the legal challenges. In an interview with JoyNews on Tuesday, December 9, he conveyed his faith in the judicial system as the case progresses to the Supreme Court.
“We are currently in the appeal court, and we are awaiting developments. The Supreme Court has scheduled a date of December 16 to hear our case. The remainder is a matter for the attorneys; it is technical. Regardless of the direction they choose, I have faith in a higher power. Everyone has a destined path. Wherever my destiny leads me, so be it,” he stated.
This legal challenge arises from a ruling by the Tamale High Court that annulled Nyindam’s parliamentary election victory and mandated a rerun in the Kpandai Constituency within 30 days. Following this, Parliament officially informed the Electoral Commission of the vacancy.
In a letter dated December 4, 2025, the Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, notified Electoral Commission Chairperson Jean Mensa that the judgment rendered on November 24, 2025, requires a new election. The case, identified as Suit Number NR/TL/HC/E13/22/25, listed the Clerk of Parliament as the fourth respondent.
