The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is set to deliver the report regarding the mediation of the Bawku conflict to President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, a Member of Parliament and the President’s Spokesperson, stated on Tuesday, December 9, that the presentation is scheduled to occur at the Presidency at 4:00 p.m., as per a statement issued by the Office of the President.
Earlier this year, President Mahama appointed the Asantehene to spearhead initiatives aimed at resolving the long-standing chieftaincy dispute in Bawku.
The Asantehene commenced his mediation efforts in April, engaging with representatives from both sides to foster dialogue. Although discussions faced a temporary halt, they resumed in May, leading to a period of relative tranquility in the conflict-affected region.
For many years, the Bawku municipality has been plagued by recurring violence and social unrest, resulting in loss of life, imposition of curfews, and significant disruption to local livelihoods.
The Asantehene’s intervention has been widely acknowledged as a vital move towards achieving enduring peace in the area.
