Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Shamima Muslim has reassured Ghanaians that no citizen should be apprehensive about exercising their constitutional rights, following a petition submitted to President John Dramani Mahama that calls for the dismissal of Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng.
The petition was delivered during a march titled “Agro Ne Fom,” organized by a group of citizens who assert that the Special Prosecutor has not met his obligations.
Lead convenor Apostle Abraham Larbi Lincoln characterized the demonstration as a means to draw attention to the perceived ineffectiveness of the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
While receiving the petition on behalf of the President, Shamima Muslim underscored the significance of freedom of expression and reiterated the administration’s commitment to upholding citizens’ rights.
“It is commendable when individuals exercise their constitutional right to freedom of expression. His Excellency has assured all citizens, regardless of their political affiliations, that he is a president who values the rights of the citizen.
He has guaranteed that no citizen should feel intimidated when expressing their rights. Therefore, we view your demonstration here today as a means to activate our constitution, which is a living document,” she stated.
