The Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Sulemana Braimah, has expressed his approval of the reassignment of Felix Gyamfi, the Acting Director-General of the National Service Authority (NSA), characterizing it as a beneficial and essential action.
In an interview, Mr. Braimah stated that the decision was anticipated, considering the recent difficulties faced by the Authority.
“I believe it is not unexpected given the issues that were emerging,” he commented. “Any leader committed to implementing significant reforms at the NSS would probably have made the same decision.”
Mr. Gyamfi, who took office in January 2025, was reassigned on Monday to the Ministry of Finance.
This decision has ignited discussions within public service circles due to its sudden nature and timing, occurring just prior to the annual assignment of new service personnel.
Reports suggest that the reassignment was a result of a policy disagreement between Mr. Gyamfi and the Minister of Youth Development, George Opare Addo, regarding the Authority’s digital deployment platform.
An audit of the system uncovered vulnerabilities that resulted in financial losses due to the inclusion of fictitious names on the payroll.
Mr. Braimah criticized the outgoing Director-General for his efforts to sustain and enhance the problematic platform despite the audit’s conclusions.
“I could not comprehend why there was an effort to defend that digital system when it was evidently associated with the losses. His resolve to protect it was utterly unjustifiable,” he remarked.
