The Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation has initiated an inquiry into the cybersecurity incident involving MTN Ghana.
In an official statement, the ministry disclosed that the investigation is being carried out in partnership with the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) and the Data Protection Commission to evaluate the severity of the breach and to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to safeguard customers.
MTN Ghana acknowledged on Monday, April 28, that around 5,700 of its customers might have been impacted by the recent cybersecurity incident.
The company indicated that although its services remain fully functional, a forensic investigation is in progress to ascertain the complete scope of the breach.
The ministry has urged customers to remain calm and has highlighted its efforts to determine whether any lapses have occurred on the part of the mobile network operator.
