Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President and NPP Flagbearer for the upcoming 2024 Elections, has encouraged members of the NPP to take pride in the government’s accomplishments, despite the disappointment that resulted in their departure from office.
During the National Thank You Tour, which he is leading, Dr. Bawumia recognized that while there were issues that were not managed effectively, leading to public dissatisfaction, the government also achieved significant successes that are benefiting the nation.
He stated, ‘The defeat necessitated a reflection on the factors that contributed to our loss as a party. It is crucial to confront these issues honestly to enhance the party’s future.’
Dr. Bawumia emphasized that he, along with the General Secretary and the Committee that examined their defeat, has addressed these matters.
He added, ‘Despite the challenges and the discontent from the public, our administration accomplished much. We initiated numerous projects that are having a positive effect on our country, and history will justify our efforts.’
The former Vice President highlighted various initiatives, including investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and digitalization.
‘While some may have been frustrated with us over certain issues, it is important to acknowledge that we have a commendable record of impactful governance.’
Over the course of our eight years in office, we accomplished a great deal, including initiatives such as Planting for Food and Jobs, the One Constituency, One Ambulance program to address the persistent issue of ambulance shortages, the establishment of fish landing sites, the Agenda 111 hospital projects, various road developments nationwide, and the implementation of Free SHS, among others.
We undertook all these initiatives, and I am confident that, despite the discontent regarding some of our decisions and omissions, future generations will recognize the contributions of the NPP, our administration, and President Akufo-Addo.
