The Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, has applauded the Western Naval Command for their outstanding efforts in safeguarding Ghana’s territorial waters.
During a recent familiarization tour of the command, he acknowledged their crucial role in protecting businesses and social activities, which are vital for the nation’s economic stability.
Minister Nelson recognized the challenges faced by the Naval Command and pledged his firm commitment to working collaboratively with them to address these issues. He emphasized the essential role that security plays in ensuring peace and tranquility for all citizens.
As the Chairman of the Regional Security Council (REGSEC), Hon. Nelson reassured the command of his unwavering support and encouraged them to continue their diligent work for the advancement of the region.
He highlighted that the Naval Command’s duties in guarding Ghana’s waters are an essential part of their traditional responsibilities, crucial for protecting coastal businesses and community activities.
“The economic survival of Ghanaians depends on the security and social stability provided by our government,” he stated. He noted that the Western Naval Command has consistently fulfilled its mandate, enabling all Ghanaians to live their daily lives without fear or anxiety.
Addressing the challenges highlighted by the command’s leadership, he declared, “I know you are capable, so let’s focus on our objectives and continue to uphold security.” He reiterated that maintaining order in the country is essential for providing citizens with a peaceful environment.
“Your commitment to security allows the rest of us to live in peace,” he added.
While praising the command, the minister indicated that other significant security concerns warrant private discussion. “There are additional matters we need to address beyond this forum,” he noted.
He urged the command to remain steadfast in their efforts, contributing meaningfully to the region’s progress.
The Flag Officer Commanding the Western Naval Command, Commodore Emmanuel Ayensu Kwafo, who led the command’s interaction with the minister, assured him of their unwavering dedication to protecting national interests at all times.
He also promised full cooperation and solidarity as the minister assumed his role as chairman of the Regional Security Council.
