President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is scheduled to bestow National Honours and Awards upon esteemed recipients on Monday, December 30.
This event signifies a pivotal moment as it represents the concluding major occasion of his administration prior to his departure from office.
The National Honours and Awards ceremony, taking place at the Accra International Conference Centre, aims to honor individuals who have made remarkable contributions to the development of Ghana through dedicated service and exceptional accomplishments.
It highlights the significance of national service and excellence, bringing attention to those whose commitment has significantly impacted the nation’s advancement.
As per a notification letter signed by the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, nominees are expected to arrive at the venue by 11 a.m. for the investiture.
The dress code for the event is formal or traditional attire, with suggestions including Kente, Fugu, or suits, which reflect Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and the solemnity of the occasion.
Nominees are also allowed to invite up to two family members to attend this prestigious ceremony. Each nominee has received a personal invitation card, officially signed by President Akufo-Addo, to confirm their participation.
This occasion not only honors individual accomplishments but also reinforces the lasting significance of collective national pride and cultural identity.
There are five distinct awards to be presented:
Order of the Star and Eagles of Ghana
Order of the Star of Ghana
Order of the Volta
The Medal for Gallantry
The Grand Medal.
