Parliament has sanctioned a tax exemption amounting to $10.4 million for Tata Consultancy Services Limited, which is poised to execute the Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS) project in Ghana.
The agreement, initially established by the preceding NPP government, is part of a larger IMF-supported initiative wherein Tata Consultancy Services, in collaboration with its Ghanaian Indian partners, IPMC, will take charge of the nation’s domestic tax mobilization in 2026.
As per the arrangement, the government has relieved Tata Consultancy Services from a 20% withholding tax and Value Added Tax on its earnings, thereby offering financial relief to the company and ensuring the seamless implementation of ITAS.
Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson emphasized that the renegotiation of the agreement by the Mahama administration has resulted in a savings of $9 million for the country, highlighting the government’s dedication to fiscal responsibility and effective collaboration between the public and private sectors.
