The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has provided assurance to the public that it is diligently monitoring the situation in the Middle East, following recent events that have sparked concerns regarding the safety of the Black Queens, who are currently in the area preparing for an international tournament.
In light of this, GFA President Kurt Okraku convened with the team to request calm and to reassure them of the Association’s unwavering support.
He mentioned that over the last 24 to 48 hours, the GFA has consulted with key stakeholders to ascertain the best course of action. These stakeholders include Ghana’s mission in the United Arab Emirates, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Association’s security advisors.
Additionally, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, along with the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, have both contacted the team to convey the nation’s support during this challenging time.
The GFA has called on the public to remain composed as it continues to monitor the situation, assuring stakeholders that updates will be communicated should any further developments arise.
The Black Queens have been in the United Arab Emirates for the past week as part of their preparations for the forthcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
